A key concept that is central to the structural design of Park West and to the philosophy of the program is that of normalization. It is our goal to provide mentally retarded older adults as "normal" of an environment as possible within the community. The physical structure of the building is unique in that it is not one large seventy-bed facility, but rather it is nine self-functioning units. The nine units have eight residents each except one which has six residents. These apartment units each have four bedrooms, three baths, kitchen, living room and laundry room.
All areas of the facility are handicapped equipped. |
